Danielle Letourneau has played squash in some pretty incredible places.

She’s competed at Grand Central Station in New York.
Just recently, she played at the Birmingham New Street Station in the U.K.
When you’re one of the top players in the world, you earn some amazing opportunities.
Playing at home, though, is always special.
This week, the Calgarian will be back at home and competing in a glass court at the Oxford Properties Canadian Open, a Professional Squash Association Women’s 30k and Men’s 10K tour event.
It’s not like Letourneau hasn’t played in some big tournaments in Calgary before, but this week’s tournament is going to be held right in the heart of downtown in the atrium at Bow Valley Square.
That’s different.
“I think it’s more special this time, with the glass court set up downtown so hopefully more people can watch,” Letourneau said.

For those who might not follow the international squash scene all that closely, Letourneau is a big deal. She’s currently ranked No. 20 in the world and — along with Hollie Naughton, who is ranked No. 16 — has helped elevate Canadian women’s squash to exciting levels.
Letourneau actually competed at home a couple weeks ago at the Calgary CFO Consulting Services PSA Women’s Squash Week and made the semifinal, although she wasn’t thrilled with her performances at that event.
