After all the shocks and spoils that have happened throughout the Rochester ProAm, it will be the top two that will face off in Sunday’s final, as Daniel Mekbib and Aly Hussein both won their respective semi-finals in four games.
Top seed Mekbib, from the Czech Republic, came up against No.6 seed Alejandro Reyes in his last four contest, and took the first two games with ease, both by a scoreline of 11-5. The Mexican fought back to win the third game with the loss of just a single point, but it was the Czech player who took the win in four, to advance to the final.
He will now face No.2 seed Aly Hussein, after the Egyptian got the better of Indian wildcard Veer Chotrani, also winning 3-1. Hussein took the first game, but the pair were level after two games. However, from there, it was the Egyptian who ran out to win the next two to win in four, and book his spot in Sunday’s final.
