THE final of the Lockerbie Squash Club PSA Challenger event was on Sunday and has been described as ‘a fitting end to five days of wonderful squash’.
Club members are delighted with the success of the contest and said: “The standard and fitness of players exceed our expectations, and the games were a joy to watch. The club was delighted with the spectator numbers at the training sessions and the games. There was plenty to take from this event to all squash players in technique and fitness levels.”
The winner was Nick Wall over Curtis Malik in a five-set thriller. This was the first time the pair had met each other, and they both played magnificent squash. The crowd were spellbound by the time and quality play for the rallies and showed their appreciation to both players for a great final.
Thanks were expressed to all the sponsors who supported the tournament: The Dietarian, Dumfries and Galloway Council, SHAP at Annan, RC Dalgleish, Grange Quarry, The Rotary Club, Ian Sloan, Solway Print, and The Sport and Trophy Centre.
The catering was supplied by Dalton Hook Farm and the live streaming of the event was by Battlestations Ltd.
Finally, the club thanked Allan Law and John Crawford who had the difficult task of marking and explaining decisions over the event.
