The semi-finals of the Setanta Edmonton Squash Club Open will be dominated by Hong Kong, with all four players coming from the East Asian nation, after they came through their respective quarter final clashes to reach the last four of the Challenger 3 level tournament.
No.4 seed Chung Yat Long was the only member of the quartet to be pushed all the way in his quarter final contest in Edmonton, having to go the distance to defeat Colombia’s Nicolas Serna. Long found himself 2-1 down, but he fought back to win the last two games to advance to the semi-finals. He will now face compatriot and No.2 seed Harley Lam, after he overcame the Czech Republic’s Petr Nohel in straight games.
The other semi-final will pit top seed Tang Ming Hong and No.3 seed Matthew Lai against each other. Hong got the better of England’s Aaron Allpress in the last eight, while Lai downed fellow Hongkonger Wailok To, coming from a game down to win in four.
The semi-finals of the Setanta Edmonton Squash Club Open will take place on Saturday, April 23, with the last four aiming to reach the finals on Sunday.
