It was on the Missouri, in 1804, that Meriwether Lewis and William Clark set forth in small boats bound for the interior. It was also on the Big Muddy that Duane Hansen paddled into the history books, becoming the first man to travel 38 miles in a pumpkin.
Morgan Buchholz, his daughter, wept with joy. “I’m so proud of my dad,” she told News Channel Nebraska. “He has always said you can do anything you want.”
