In the men’s draw, the World No.1 spot is up for grabs once again as Paul Coll and Ali Farag can both finish the competition on top of the standings. Coll gets his campaign underway on day one against Seif Shenawy, whilst No.2 seed Farag, opens his tournament on day two against Leonel Cardenas.
Two other former World Champions will be in action on day one as 2017 Champion Mohamed El Shorbagy faces Hungary’s Balazs Farkas whilst Tarek Momen has a tough round one match against Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng.
World No.1 Nouran Gohar will be looking to capture her first World title as she enters the event as the No.1 seed for the first time. Gohar has won six of her previous eight events on the PSA World Tour but will be desperate to capture the ultimate prize this week.
Standing in her way will be numerous challengers, including five-time champion Nour El Sherbini. ‘The Warrior Princess’ has been out of action since March through injury and makes her return in Cairo this week.
